Grass fed collagen gives this smoothie an extra nutritional boost along with super foods — maca powder and hemp seeds.
NUTRITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
Collagen is a structural protein within the body and a key constituent of connective tissues such as hair, nails, skin, bones, joints, organs and even gut lining. However, as we age, our collagen levels can naturally begin to decline, so it is important include collagen in your diet. Look for grass-fed/pasture-raised brands of beef collagen, or wild-caught/sustainably sourced marine collagen.
Hemp seeds are a complete protein and a great source of GLA (gamma linoleic acid) which is a type of omega-6 fatty acid that is known to help reduce inflammation. They are also high in fiber, vitamin E, magnesium, iron, zinc and potassium.
Maca powder is truly a super food! Maca is an adaptogen and helps the body to deal with stress, supports the adrenal glands, supports the immune system, helps to balance hormones and supports the endocrine system as well as thyroid function. Maca is also a great source of iron, iodine, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, selenium, vitamins B1 and B2, C and E.
